I had been eying this jacket for a while. It suits my puffer preferences by having no hood which is harder to find than you’d think. No hood means its entirety can fit under a shell and on rainy/snowy days no part of your sub-shell layers stick out and thus they’re not susceptible to getting soggy. My current no-hood puffer which I use for layering, is slightly large on me and its little down compartments don’t hold as much air and thus don’t retain as much heat.
I snagged this new REI one when it went on sale during the Black Friday holiday. I like it not only because it’s ultra warm, light weight, and can easily be layered, but also because it is a bright orange. I usually stick to neutral colors ONLY however this addition has been great for a warm layer to wear on hikes during hunting season as my high-vis clothing article.
It’s still on sale for those looking for a new puffy jacket! 10/10 would recommend.
